Choir "Canticum Iubilaeum"

The Choir was established in January 1998 and has over 40 members - secondary school students, students and working people. In the Jubilee Year - 2000 it adopted the name of "CANTICUM IUBILAEUM" which means "joy of singing". The Choir graces celebrations in the Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows in Limanowa with its multitimbral singing. It also gives concerts in the country and abroad. It performed, among others, in Jasna Góra, Licheń, Niepokalanów, Tarnów, in Warsaw in the chapel of the Presidential Palace, in the Church of Our Lady of Angels in Bemowo, Warsaw. |
It sang in the Pallotine Seminary in Ołtarzew near Warsaw, in Krakow in the Pauline Church of St. Michael and St. Stanislaus called "Na Skałce", in the Sacred Heart Sisters' Church in Krakow, in St. Mary's the Virgin Church in Krakow, in the Wawel Cathedral, at the Benedictines' in Tyniec, in the Bochnia Salt Mine. It participated in Holy Masses broadcast by: the Polish Radio from the St. Cross Basilica in Warsaw, Radio RDN Małopolska from the Church of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Tarnów, and the Polish Television from the Divine Mercy Sanctuary in Łagiewniki. The Choir took part in the Holy Mass with John Paul II during the canonization of the Blessed Kinga in Stary Sącz in 1999, and in 2000 it sang with other choirs in the Church of the Holy Spirit in the Vatican on the Pope's name day. It also performed in Padua, Assisi, Loreto and in Limanowa's friendly town of Dolny Dubin in Slovakia. It gave a concert on Ignacy Jan Paderewski Days in Krakow. It has inaugurated the International Summer Organ Recitals in Tyniec twice. It gave concerts in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima in Krzeptówki in Zakopane and in the St. Kinga Chapel in the Bochnia Salt Mine. It took part in numerous choir competitions and reviews.
The most important of them are:
- 1st place at the 9th Polish Festival of Christmas Carols and Pastorals - Będzin 2003
- 2nd place at the 4th Polish Church Choir Competition "Caecilianum" Warsaw 2004
- 2nd place at the "Cantate Domino" Festival - the Academy of Music - Krakow 2006.
- GRAND PRIX of the 4th Polish Review of Penitential and Passion Songs - Żory 2007.
The Choir is a member of the Polish Church Choir Association "CAECILIANUM".
On its 5th anniversary in 2003, the Choir released its first record with choral music entitled "ADOREMUS DOMINUM". This time, on its 10th anniversary, "CANTICUM IUBILAEUM" recorded the most beautiful Christmas songs on a record entitled "POKŁON JEZUSKOWI" (Obeisance to the child Jesus)
